Horns To Toes And In Between is a Sandra Boynton easy reader book. This sturdy board book consists of thirteen pages, each one discussing a variety of body parts from the unique characters created by Boynton. Horns To Toes And In Between begins, “Oh, we’ve each got these Horns right on top of our head and we’ve each got two ears so we can hear what you said….” Throughout this book, the monsters talk about how they each have a mouth, feet, tows, a nose, eyes, etc. The story is written in typical Boynton style with only a few words on each page, and bright colors in the illustrations, and critters filling each page.

This book is one of several Boynton books my family owns. I bought it because, at the time, my children were engaged with anything Boynton. However, I have to say that of the probably six or eight Boynton books we have, this is my least favorite. The others that we own feature real animals, e.g., hippos, dogs, cows, you name it depicted sweetly and oh so cute. But this one is different. It has creatures that, in my opinion, aren’t even cute. They are furry things with large tummies, 2 horns, large noses, and small arms and legs.
OK – I admit it – I think they are down right ugly! However, my children did enjoy this book. They took delight in being able to name the critters’ body parts and pointing out comparisons and differences between the critters in Horns To Toes And In Between and themselves. Another plus of Boynton books is that they are very easy to read, and make great first readers for your child. The bottom line is that your children will probably enjoy this book and that is a good thing, just be sure you speak the title correctly, as my children thought it was Horns Two-Toes for quite a while!  Info:
