Kasey Kahne looked strong early on at Texas Motor Speedway. After quailfying second, Kahne looked to be a contender for the win on Sunday. He has one career victory at Texas.

Kahne battled for the lead with Jeff Gordon on Lap 1, but was unable to get by Gordon. Kahne remained a fixture in the top ten for most of the day and all signs pointed to a strong run and a solid finish.

But it wasn't to be. Engine problems plagued the No. 9 Budweiser Dodge late in the race and Kahne finished one lap down in 33rd position.

Kahne now sits at 10th in the standings, 399 points behind leader Jimmie Johnson, and 74 behind Ryan Newman, who is ninth.
