Pearl Jam, who was already slotted to play the last nights in Spectrum history, has added two more dates. The original dates, October 28 and October 30, 2009 will not be squeezed in the middle of 2 two just announced shows. Those dates are October 27 and October 31, 2009. These dates were arranged due to high demand of tickets for the previous shows. Pearl Jam’s newest album Backspacer will be released on September 22, 2009.
The Wachovia Spectrum has witnessed many events during its 42 years; countless Flyers games, including the Flyers winning the Stanley Cup against the Boston Bruins on May 19, 1974, numerous 76ers games including the home playoff games during their 1983 championship winning season. The Spectrum also was the venue for 57 times when The Grateful Dead played in Philadelphia, which is more than any other musical act in the arena’s history. Bruce Springsteen, who has four more shows to add to his total at the Spectrum, is second with 32 shows. But all the history in the Spectrum will be only history after October, 2009. Whether you are a Pearl Jam fan, or just a fan of the Spectrum, this will be your last chance to witness the final event in Spectrum history.
