I first discovered the art of Mark Penxa through his work for Girl Skateboards (where he produced one of the greatest deck designs in recent memory). I've long associated his name with the many great artists and designers from that world who constantly impress me.

That work, however, represents a small subset of what he's capable of. Turns out -- as this recent post on Club Mumble shows -- he's also an impressive sports illustrator.

Head over to markpenxa.com and click on "Exhibition" to see his "Stealing Signs" series, a wonderfully rendered series depicting scenes of vintage baseball.

From there, click on "News & Happenings" to see where he's thinking of taking the project next. If the piece at right is any indication, it's going to be special.
