Objectified. A Gary Hustwit film.

The design community is buzzing over the release of a new trailer (below) for director Gary Hustwit's Objectified, a documentary about industrial design.

(Hustwit, as you might remember, is also the force behind the last great design-related documentary, Helvetica.)

It's pretty easy to get excited after watching that teaser and reading this description:

Objectified is the next film from director Gary Hustwit. It's about industrial design, and the creativity at work behind everything from toothbrushes to tech gadgets. It's about the people who re-examine, re-evaluate and re-invent our manufactured environment on a daily basis. It's about our relationship to mass-produced objects and, by extension, the people who design them.

The essence of any good documentary involves taking a subject that's tough to access for a layperson and making clear why some folks treat it as an obsession. Looks like Hustwit is prepared to go two-for-two in that department.

Learn more about the film at the Objectified website.
