Russia has provoked outrage in Poland by simulating an air and sea attack on the country during military exercises.

The Russian armed forces are said by Polish sources to have carried out in September "war games" in which nuclear missiles were fired and troops practiced an amphibious landing on the country's coast. Is there any relationship to this and the mishandled administration announcement of a change in the missile defense shield for Eastern Europe?

Documents obtained by Wprost, one of Poland's leading news magazines, said the exercise was carried out in conjunction with soldiers from Belarus.” The maneuvers are thought to have been held in September and involved about 13,000 Russian and Belarusian troops.” The report said that: Poland, which has strained relations with both countries, was cast as the "potential aggressor".

The Polish documents go on to state that the exercises, code-named "West", were officially classified as "defensive" but many of the operations appeared to have an offensive nature. The Russian air force allegedly practiced using weapons from its nuclear arsenal. We reported before about the changed Russian nuclear doctrine. We pointed out. That there are situations in which preemptive nuclear strikes can be delivered to repel external threats to Russia and contain aggression. While in the Russian enclave of Kaliningrad, which neighbors Poland, Red Army forces are reported to have stormed a "Polish" beach and attacked a gas pipeline. The operation is also reported to have involved the simulated suppression of an uprising in Belarus – the country is reported to have a significant Polish population which has a strained relationship with authoritarian government of Belarus.

Ordinary Poles were reported as outraged by news of the exercise and demanded a firm response from the government. One man, identified only as Ted, told Polskie Radio: "Russia has laid bare its real intentions with respect to Poland. Every Pole most now get off of the fence and be counted as a patriot or a traitor."
This is not the first report of a resurgent Russia that appears more willing to flex its muscles.
It would appear that the Russians continue to exploit the administration’s willingness to look the other direction in return for Russia’s help on other issues.

Was Vice President Biden during his recent trip to Poland able to assuage their obvious concerns? What did he promise?

Is the Russian strategy to push forward on all fronts? How far is the administration willing to let them push?
