Buck, a mastiff mix, arrived at Critter Adoption & Rescue Effort (C.A.R.E.), Hillsborough County’s no-kill animal shelter in Ruskin, Fla., after having spent a night with a caring family, something he had not done for a long while. On his lonesome travel through the streets of Brandon, Fla., he encountered people in a subdivision who opened their home to him and subsequently brought him to the safety of C.A.R.E.’s shelter, though they would have liked to keep him. However, they already had furry family members, and while Buck got along well with his doggy and kitty hosts, he could not stay.
When Buck came to C.A.R.E, he quickly recovered from being a homeless dog amid the loving care of the shelter’s staff. He has gained back almost all the weight he lost during his roaming days, and after having gotten back his appetite, he now enjoys his regular meals. Buck is a big gentle guy who likes to show off his friendliness to everybody he meets, and he likes children.
Buck is about 3 years old. He is heartworm positive and has started treatment which will be covered in the adoption, as well as his neutering and inoculations.
People interested in adopting Buck or any other dog or cat can visit C.A.R.E. at 1528 27th St. off state Route 674 in Ruskin Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. until
