In the real word there are "big dog" people and "small dog" people. The hotel industry, however, favors small dogs. They especially appreciate dogs under 25-pounds.
There are many hotel chains that will allow your small dog to share your accomodations . They love little dogs so much they are even willing to waive the pet fees that are applied to larger dogs. This is further proof that life is unfair.
Fortunately, the folks at Motel 6 and Studio 6 are decent enough to allow dogs of all sizes to stay at their properties with no extra fees involved. True, Motel 6 is not The Ritz but we all make sacrifices for our four-legged friends.
If you plan to visit Dallas (or anywhere, really) you should have a look at PetsWelcome.com. Here you can look up the policies of pet-friendly hotels in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex and beyond. Each property has its own policy and its own fee structure.
The Web site is not the easiest to use, but the information is comprehensive. Hotels range from the low end all the way up to the world-famous Mansion on Turtle Creek. If you are staying there, you can certainly afford their $100 non-refundable pet fee.
