The Arthritis Foundation keeps busy spreading the word about arthritis in humans. However, they aren't above helping our four-legged friends, too.
The foundation's Web site has an important Web page available to people concerned about canine arthritis, it's effects and treatments.
Their guide to spotting trouble includes which normal behaviors to look for. Make sure your dog "eats well, looks bright-eyed and playful, and greets you as only a doggy can when you come home," says the foundation's experts.
When it comes to over-the-counter treatment, Glucosamine, chondroitin and Omega fatty acids have shown an ability to relieve symptoms of canine arthritis. Your veterinarian can prescribe additional meds for your dog's condition after evaluating the problem.
The Foundation suggests that you schedule an appointment with the vet if you notice the following signs of arthritis for more than two weeks.
