Under Armour debuts new running shoe
Nike, Reebok, Asics, and Adidas have been some of the most popular running shoes on the market until now. Under Armour, the locally based sportswear company is now throwing their hat into the ring. Founded in 1995 by Kevin Plank, a University of Maryland football player, Under Armour has become one of the most successful sportswear companies to date. Their technical fabrics are favored by all sorts of athletes and even soldiers and police officers.
January 31, 2009 was as Under Armour executives stated, “their biggest launch to date.” In the highly competitive market of running footwear and apparel, Under Armour, is going to feature 6 models for both men and women with the slogan of, “Athletes Run”. They have begun promoting the line by starting a Team Under Armour Run with athletes sporting the shoes at events nation wide.
The shoes which will be sold for between $85 to $120, will be available at sporting good stores and running retailers. One of the shoes’ features is a stretch foot sleeve on the top of the foot. This should be hugely popular with longer distance runners and triathletes that like a snug, comfortable fit for extended periods of time.
True to Under Armour history the new shoes feature bold colors and innovative designs . They are being sported by Under Armour sponsored athletes such as triathlete Chris “Macca” McCormack and Ultra Marathoner Cameron Hanes. As their popularity grows, you will be likely to see them on other high profile athletes.
I pre-ordered mine from the Under Armour website and look forward to trying them as soon as they get here. I will review them in a future article. Make sure you get them while you can. Like all products that Under Armour sells, these new running shoes look to be hugely popular and extremely comfortable. Until next time, Train Hard!
