As a woman, certain things seem to be ingrained in our DNA. We tend to have a domestic goddess side, we buy backups of cleaning supplies, we have maternal instinct and we have manners.
If you're single, you may be living alone. You may also be seeking a roommate or already residing with your brother, a guy friend, a random male roomie or even the guy you are seeing (whatever that means).
Regardless, you may want to remember these differences between guys and girls. That way you don't have to waste energy stressing over things that probably aren't even worth fighting for.
Replacing the toilet paper. Most guys will not replace the toilet paper. Even if they end up needing to use some, they'll simply take it out and then place it on a counter or ledge when they're finished. Why not take the next step and just put it on the holder?
Buying replacement toilet paper. Might never happen. So you run out of toilet paper. So what. You're a woman and it's expected that you're going to buy more. A guy might even resort to a makeshift bidet by taking a dip in the bathtub to clean himself off. Gross but true. He will probably do anything to avoid actually having to buy the toilet paper if he knows there's a woman around who will end up doing it. (For some reason, guys living on their own or with each other seem to not have a problem buying tp. Probably because they know they have no choice.)
Peeing in the yard. You have a bathroom. It happens to be vacant when nature calls. But, for some reason, your guy roomie still opts for urinating in the yard. It's a guy thing. Don't be too weirded out by it.
Cleaning the bathroom. It's not gonna happen. Just plan on doing it yourself if you're a chick.
Backup supplies. Women often like to have backups on hand. A spare soap under the kitchen sink, spare toilet paper under the bathroom sink, a replacement mop head on the shelf. Men, on the other hand, traditionally won't buy anything until it is gone. Just learn to deal with it because it will probably never change.
Putting empty containers back in the fridge. This seems to be something males do. Why? Who knows. One would think that if a guy would take the last Boca burger out of the package, he would also take and then dispose of the empty box. Nope. Sometimes guys will put the empty box back in the freezer.
Dishes in the sink. This can be annoying, especially if you have no dishwasher. Some guys tend to think dishes will wash themselves if you let them sit in the sink long enough.
If you're lucky and you have an OCD guy or one who is a bit more feminine, you can rest assured that he will probably not fit into the typical male described here. Instead you can count on him to join you in your domestic tasks.
But wait. Isn't there a positive side to living with men? ...of course! They mow the lawn, do yardwork, take care of plumbing troubles, take out the trash and occasionally even cook dinner. And, of course, they are typically more laid-back/less dramatic than female roommates.
So, choose wisely. Living with either sex has its ups and downs.
