With the new season approaching and a big game for UGA rivaled by a tune-up for Georgia Tech, the question has to be asked that no matter who wins this weekend, which of the instate rivals will come out looking better?
Granted, UGA has the tougher task of going into Stillwater and trying to upset the Oklahoma State Cowboys, but no matter if they win big or win small, it's my opinion that Georgia Tech should come out smelling like the better rose this weekend.
If UGA wins by a lot, then folks will point to Oklahoma State's propensity for having high expectations and not meeting them. If they win by a little, then UGA is going to be perceived as a good team from the SEC, but not yet ready to challenge the Florida Gators for conference dominance.
Tech on the other hand just needs to win, and win big, against Jacksonville State. Figuring the Yellow Jackets throttled them last year, this shouldn't be too tough of a task. A lot of experts have picked Georgia Tech for a BCS Bowl and at worst, a possible Gator Bowl appearance. A strong showing of defensive skills and offense prowess will go a long way in getting them picked to be the favorites for the ACC Title should Virginia Tech drop their opener to Alabama.
Granted, all of this means nothing, especially figuring it'll just be the first game, but Dawg fans should expect the rumblings for the Yellow Jackets to be louder on Monday, regardless of how UGA holds up in Stillwater on Saturday.
