The University of Georgia picked up a huge commitment today from one of the top prospects in the country and also filled a big need for their 2010 class.
Da'Rick Rogers, a WR out of Calhoun, Georgia, picked the Bulldogs over the University of Florida and Mississippi State. Rogers cited his excellent relationship with Coach Mark Richt, Coach Stacey Searels and WR Coach Tony Ball as his reasons for choosing the Dawgs.
Rogers is a 6'3", 205 lb. receiver and could potentially be an instant contributor for the Dawgs. Rogers did state that the chance for early playing time was a factor in his decision, but overall, he just felt more comfortable in Athens.
According to Rivals.com, Rogers is the 4th best receiver in the country and the 22nd best prospect overall. There's a great chance his ranking could rise as he plays through his senior year. Rogers has great speed as well, in which he has been clocked as running under 4.4 in the forty yard dash.
Rogers will need to work on his route running before he takes the field at UGA, but if he lives up to his potential, he'll be the third major WR recruit in as many years for the Bulldogs, behind last year's commitment of Marlon Brown and 2006's top recruit A.J. Green.
Rogers did say that he was planning on taking all five official visits, but says that Dawg fans shouldn't worry about him wavering and that his commitment is 100% solid.
