Due to a dramatic slowdown of offseason issues between UGA and Georgia Tech, there hasn't been too much information to report, but a couple of new tidbits have come up recently between the two programs.

First, UGA has added North Texas as the opening school for their 2013 schedule. UGA has agreed to pay North Texas a reported $975,000 for what both teams have to assume will be an easy win for the Dawgs. The rising cost of scheduling "cupcakes" for the opening season is rising and the price tag for the contest is proof in the proverbial pudding for the Dawgs.

Second, UGA is losing Safety John Knox due to academic issues. Knox will be transferring to Georgia Military College (GMC) to get his grades up and possibly return to the football team at another point in his career. The loss is a big blow to the Dawgs who were already short in the Secondary to begin this season, but losing Knox means the loss of a hard-hitting Safety to help with the run game. The Dawgs will now rely on the hopefully returning Quentin Banks, freshman Shawn Williams and Sanders Commings to help provide depth and support for All-SEC candidate Reshad Jones.

Lastly, Georgia Tech has had a couple of their players honored by one of the top prognosticators in college football. Phil Steele, who writes and publishes a book with some of the top statistics in the game, has pegged RB Jonathan Dwyer and DB Morgan Burnett to his All-America team. Both were huge playmakers for the Jackets last season and will most likely be offensive and defensive headaches for teams in the ACC this season. Four other Jackets were also tabbed as preseason All-ACC members. Those include WR Demaryius Thomas, DL Derrick Morgan, OG Cord Howard and LB Brad Jefferson.
