Reshad Jones, the starting safety for the Bulldogs is expected to announce Thursday morning that he intends to forgo the rest of his college career and jump into the NFL.
Jones, a redshirt sophomore, was rated the best safety in the nation as a high school recruit, but to this point, has not lived up to his billing as a Bulldog. He has the size and frame to be a nice cover safety in the same mold as former UGA great Sean Jones, but his tackling skills this year left many Dawg fans frustrated.
TotalUGA.com, an ESPN affiliate, caught up with Jones earlier Wednesday night and the underclassmen acknowledged that he was leaning towards leaving due to it being a "weak safety class" and that the risk of injury was too great.
When asked, Jones said that his family supported his decision, but would not comment about the advice his current coaches gave him. Jones is expected to be a second-day draft pick, going no higher than the third round.
As soon as a decision is announced, we'll be sure to get it up on Examiner.com for you.
