Country singer Mindy McCready is among the latest bunch of celebs to check in to VH-1’s Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew. She joins fellow treatment-seekers Mackenzie Phillips, Heidi Fleiss, Tom Sizemore and Dennis Rodman, among others. McCready, who is treated for co-dependency, said her affair with Roger Clemens comes up during her on-show sessions.
She tells the New York Daily News, “He was the first person I fell madly in love with. But having a person promise you the world and then not give it to you, that's the worst kind of abuse a person can suffer." According to McCready, now 33, the affair began when she was 15 and tainted her future relationships. “Dr. Drew and his team point out that a man like Roger Clemens is responsible for paving the way for what my relationships with men would be like."
When reports of the affair broke last year, Clemens fessed up (in an ambiguous kind of way) and made a public apology for what he called "mistakes in my personal life for which I am sorry." He also said, "I have apologized to my family and apologize to my fans. Like everyone, I have flaws. I have sometimes made choices which have not been right."
The new season of Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew airs in early 2010 on VH-1.
