Cycle World IMS San Mateo, The Vintage Motorcycles
One of the “strongest” portions of the show was the detached hall with the vintage motorcycles on display. There was a sizable contingent of vintage, important bikes brought primarily by the following clubs: Vintage Triumph Riders Group, Antique Motorcycle Club, Nor-Cal BSA, Northern California Norton Owner’s Club, the Classic Japanese Motorcycle Club, and the Vintage Japanese Motorcycle Club.

Other important bikes included a Honda CBX with the touring pack intact, a beautiful Honda CB450, and of course the bedrock Triumph Bonnevilles of the 50’s – 70’s and multi-cylinder Hondas that revolutionized the industry. Pictured is a mid-70’s CB400-4 with the waterfall exhaust pipes. This bike came out when I was in junior high and in my 13 year old eyes, the pipes must have been designed by Leonardo da Vinci himself.
In summary, the vintage display was perhaps more popular than the new models on display for the 40-and-over crowd.
