On Sunday former pro wrestler Waldo Von Erich passed away. He was 75 years old when he died.

Von Erich (real name Walter Seiber) was Canadian born and debuted as a wrestler in 1950. He first made his mark in Stu Hart’s Calgary territory, where met Jack Adkisson, who wrestled as Fritz Von Erich. Waldo was billed as Von Erich’s brother in wrestling storylines and the pair worked as a tag team initially. Even after they split as a team they were still billed as brothers through most pro wrestling canon.

His most notable success came in both the ‘60s and ‘70s when he challenged then-World Wide Wrestling Federation Heavyweight Champion Bruno Sammartino numerous times over the years.

He retired as an active wrestler in 1979 and became a trainer for International Wrestling Championship. His famous trainee is current TNA Wrestling superstar Eric Young.
