Find out more about Bernice: Ms. Bowers has extensive local and international management experience in business and economic development having worked for Motorola, Toyota, Servco Pacific, and Hawaiya Technologies. Ms. Bowers was also the Executive Director of an economic development agency, and manages the new SBA government contracting training center in Honolulu. Born and raised in Honolulu, Ms. Bowers is a third-generation resident of Hawaii. She attended Punahou School and was a classmate of President Barack Obama. Ms. Bowers earned a BA at Princeton University. She was appointed by the U.S. Secretary of Commerce to the District Export Council and was the Vice Chair. Ms. Bowers worked extensively throughout Asia, representing Fortune 500 companies of Asia and the U.S. Ms. Bowers secured for Hawaii its first U.S. Department of Commerce grant for the export of disaster management expertise to Asia in 1995, specializing in this field for the past 15 years. |
