Neo soul artist Jack Fuller: guaranteed to make you shiver
When you first see neo-soul artist Jack Fuller, you don’t know what to expect. His style is very different, it’s certainly not of the ordinary, and it’s very hard to anticipate what to expect from his performance, however when he opens his mouth and gives you a taste of that four octave range and those soul stirring lyrics you’ll certainly be glad you stuck around to discover the mystery behind the man.
Singing has always been part of his plan in spite of all of the negative comments about the instability of the career, and the countless instances in which he’s been told. “Oh, you’re a bit weird”, “you’re kind of eccentric.”

Since most of his lyrics are inspired by actual events in his life, or as he put it “they’re somebody’s truth”, they’ll certainly take you to a familiar place, whether happy, sad, or just plain sensual, some place in life you’d like to visit again, or even if it’s a place you never wish to revisit, his delivery is certainly a pleasant tool to bring you back or work you through whatever that feeling that may be.
Although he mentioned that it is certainly very hard to do, he would classify himself as neo-soul artist where black music is concerned, saying that the way he approaches composing is very New York. This artist has always loved, and can’t remember a time where he wasn’t involved in music, his humble beginnings were at Harlem School of the Arts, where at the age of 7, he learned theory and began to play the violin.
His song entitled “Shiver” recently put the audience at Ashford and Simpson’s Sugar Bar on West 72nd street in a trance as he sang about a love that brought chills down his spine, or was it someone else’s love? Either way the audience sat there so engrossed in the lyrics, wondering who this individual could’ve been, while at the same time recalling the last individual that made them shiver.
The band, J.F. 's Crew is a very interesting cast of six characters who make guest appearances every now and then because of their busy schedules: Dallisha Thomas, Sandra Miller, Tamra Hutchinson, Tristan Alexander, Jamal Peoples, and Larry Peoples Jr.
Fuller has met these very talented individuals through the many steps on his journey through learning, playing and performing music.
He is still learning a lot about the music industry, mainly that even though the industry has been “obsessed lately with recreating something that already exists”, there is still something very important to him about longevity, in which he exclaims “there used to be an investment in, longevity is being yourself”. He also credits the power of networking to his success in this ever changing industry.
His approach to composing and his classical background influences the majority of his writing. The messages in the songs are portrayed in an extremely bold manner, his four octave range and ability to create harmonies in addition to him being enamored with the human voice, his look is “crazy”, all of these things put together, he says make him different from other artists.
When asked if he lost his voice forever what songs would he have had to perform before doing so, he said “OOH! YIKES! There are so many favorites… It would have to be between “Round Midnight” by Miles Davis, and “Higher Ground” by Stevie Wonder.
He is currently producing his own album by choice, which will include a mixture of love songs and songs filled with messages guaranteed to make you shiver!
