Barack Obama freshman photo exhibition
When professional psychologist Lisa Jack first met President Barack Obama at a campus snack shop in their freshman year at Occidental college in 1979, neither one of them knew that the 36 photos she took of him in her living room for a photography class would actually sell for $ 1,000 each. How much could you buy with $1,000 in 1979?

The photos were discovered in Jacks home early last year; she made a personal decision to keep the negatives hidden away in her Minneapolis home until after the November 2008 election. "I could have made a boatload of money, probably, but I wanted to do it right." The negatives are now in a safety deposit box.
