What’s on the RNC play list this holiday season?
In an effort to joke around with his fellow committee members, Chip Saltsman- who is also a candidate for chairman of the Republican National Committee sent them all a CD entitled “We Hate the USA”, with some song titles that weren’t so politically correct. Here’s the rundown:
“Barack the Magic Negro”
"John Edwards' Poverty Tour,"
"Wright place, wrong pastor,"
"Love Client #9,"
"Ivory and Ebony"
"The Star Spanglish Banner"
Chip called it political satire and the chairman of the Republican National committee Mike Duncan spoke to CNN today about his strong opposition to the CD- mainly the song about Barack Obama, saying "I am shocked and appalled that anyone would think this is appropriate, as it clearly does not move us in the right direction.” The song was first played in 2007 on conservative political commentator Rush Limbaugh’s nationally syndicated radio show.
What are we as American’s to think of this? Surprised? About a week ago- I’d be the first one with my jaw dropped- but now, not so much. It’s justified in terms of freedom of speech I suppose- but my one question is: Was this holiday gift privately funded, and if not- how many U.S. government and or taxpayers dollars were used to distribute those gifts?
