Regular Flu Vaccine Update

  • The Dallas County Department of Health and Human Services are now offering regular flu vaccinations.
  • Where:  2377 North Stemmons Freeway
  • When:  Mondays - Fridays, 8:00 am - 4:00 pm; Wednesdays, 8:00 am - 6:00 pm; no appointment necessary (the extended hours on Wednesdays are for children's shots only)
  • Cost:  $5.00 for children and $20.00 for adults
  • Who:  The flu vaccine is recommended for children and adults, especially those with chronic medical conditions.

Other locations to get your flu shots:

  1. TexasStar Pharmacy in Plano.  No appointment necessary,  (M-F 9:00AM to 6:30PM and Sat 9:00AM to 1:00PM) and the wait time is usually 10-15 minutes. The flu shot is $25 and right now they have some of the Texas Vaccine for Children flu vaccines, so children 18 and under are only $14.75.  They should be getting the swine flu vaccine around October 15th.  (Thank you www.momsoutloud.com for this information)
  2. Walgreen's Phamrmacies have flu shots available for $24.99.

 H1N1 "Swine" Flu Update

  • On Tuesday, the FDA approved the new swine flu vaccine.
  • Shipments will begin next week and will be available during the first week of October.
  • Limited supplies will be distributed at first, but amounts will increase each week.
  • The vaccines will be available at over 90,000 locations nationwide, including schools and clinics.
  • Children 10 and older need only one shot; children 9 and under will almost certainly need 2.  The second shot must come 21 days after the first shot
  • Protection begins with ten days of receiving the vaccine.
