A chaotic family's guide to spending quality time together
Are we really spending quality time with our children through the stress and anxiety of our daily routine? I spend my most mornings screaming for my children to hurry-up so that they can catch the bus, then frantically getting myself off to work, only to rush home to make sure the children are fed, their homework is done and they are bathed by 8:00 p.m.
Does it seem that we work so hard all week only to find the weekends consumed with driving to basketball practice, soccer tournaments, dance lessons, gymnastics, birthday parties, etc., etc., etc.? Over this Thanksgiving holiday weekend, I decided that we needed two to three hours of “quality family time” just being together, with no time schedule and no defined orchestrated activities.
This week’s family tip - take your family for one game of bowling. On Friday, we went to North Bowl in Northern Liberties - Philadelphia. It was an entertaining way to spend an hour together and at $5.95 per person and $3.00 for shoe rental, the price was right too.
