The balloon story is going down!

First rule about Flight Club -- No talking about Flight Club. The second rule of Flight Club -- no talking about Flight Club. Well, Mayumi Heene broke the rule and poked a hole in her husband's balloon.

According to CNN.com, Mayumi Heene told Larimer County investigators that she and her husband, Richard Heene, knew that their 6-year-old son, Falcon, was hiding at their Fort Collins home the entire time, even as police and military scrambled to search for the boy.

According to TMZ.com--In a search warrant affidavit that was released today, Mayumi Heene told sheriff's deputies she and Richard "knew all along that Falcon was hiding in the residence."

In the document, it says "Mayumi described that she and Richard Heene devised this hoax approximately two weeks earlier ... she and Richard had instructed their three children to lie to authorities as well as the media regarding this hoax."

The Countdown show recently played a tape of the theme song for the proposed show "Richard Heene Psy-ence detective." It won't take a Psy-ence detective to follow the clues. The Larimer County officials already have search warrants that will take them deeper inside the hot air of the Heene's mind.

No doubt Mayumi broke the rule and let the helium out of the balloon in exchange for immunity for the conspiracy charges. Her statements would be admissible as a co-conspirator statement in furtherance of a conspiracy. The officers could certainly testify. No doubt, she will also give a list of all the people she and Richard talked to regarding the hoax, including the co- composer of the Psy-ence detective song.

That doesn't mean that she would necessarily testify against her husband. I'll have to talk with a Colorado attorney to find out the state of Colorado law on this matter. Chances are, the DA won't need her if this goes to trial. This probably won't go to trial.

It is unclear whether there will even be a Flight Club much longer. ESPN'S Steve Phillips's wife is divorcing him for fooling around with an intern. Will the Heene marriage continue to stay afloat? Depends on the rapidly shifting winds....

Here's where it gets interesting. A series is now probably out of the question. However, this story has made for TV biopic all over it, don't you think? The Informant!  with Matt Damon talked about a hoax involving price fixing in corn additives. Unquestionably the most boring topic in history. It did OK. The Clifford Irving story about the forgery of Howard Hughes's biography was made as well...

Well Flight Club has a balloon! Cute kids. Swearing! Did I mention a cool aerial chase scene?

Matt Damon could Richard, perhaps Lucy Liu as the mom.

Which brings us to another question -- which member of Flight Club owns the story rights-- Richard or Mayumi?

To be continued...
