Serial Killer Anthony Kirkland

"Life doesn't always mean life in Ohio"

That's how Hamilton County Prosecutor Joe Deters sums up convicted killer Anthony Kirkland.

A 19 year old Kirkland  was first convicted in the 1987 beating death of his then girlfriend that he also set on fire. Kirkland served 16 years of a 25 year sentence. He was paroled in 2003, and left unsupervised after 13 months of probation.

Kirland was sent back to prison in 2007 for trying to have sex with a 13 year old, he was out and living at the now notorious Pogue Center in a years time, this time he was also a convicted sex offender.

From the time he was first paroled in 2003 to the arrest in the rape and murder of Esme Kenney; Kirkland is accused of rape, assault, and multiple counts of murder. He is also accused of soliciting sex from numerous under aged girls, attacking an ex-girlfriend new boyfriend with scissors, causing a SWAT stand-off and burglary.

Defense attorneys are now filing motions to separated all charges in Kirkland's case, which means multiple trials for each murder he is accused of committing. His attorneys are also trying to get his confession thrown out, citing his Constitutional rights were violated.

Kirkland murder victims are as follows -

28 year old Leola Douglas in 1987
14 year old Casonya "Sharee" Crawford in 2006
45 year old Mary Jo Newton in 2006
25 year old Kimya Rolison in 2009
13 year old Esme Kenney in 2009

Kirkland will be back in court September 3rd.
