The only turkeys at these Thanksgiving celebrations still have their feathers.  Keep reading for meat-free ways to celebrate the season.

Sunday, November 15

10 a.m. - 1 p.m. Thanksgiving Cooking Class
9302 Hallston Ct., Fairfax Station, VA

Chef Mimi Clark will be presenting a meatless menu for Thanksgiving. The class includes recipes, samples and coupons. It costs $50 per person or $90 for two people. A discount is available for members of the Vegetarian Society of DC, Vegetarian Resource Group and Compassion Over Killing. Click here for more information or to RSVP. 

Thursday, November 19

6:30pm to 8pm Vibrant Vegan: Thanksgiving Feast

Whole Foods Market, Wayne Avenue, Silver Spring, MD Metro: Silver Spring

Saturday, November 21

12 p.m. – 4 p.m. Thanksgiving with the Turkeys

Poplar Spring Animal Sanctuary, 15200 Mt. Nebo Road, Poolesville, MD

Celebrate Thanksgiving WITH the turkeys with a vegan (no meat, dairy or eggs) potluck. Dishes should feed 8 people. $10.00 suggested donation to benefit the animals. No charge for children under 16.

Thursday, November 26

12 p.m. Vegan Thanksgiving
Hyatt Regency Bethesda, 7400 Wisconsin Ave, Bethesda  Metro: Bethesda

Join the Vegetarian Society of DC for a life-affirming Thanksgiving feast. Colman McCarthy, a nationally syndicated columnists with the Washington Post, will be the guest speaker. Registration and appetizers will begin at noon. The rest of the meal will be served around 1 p.m. Reservations must be made by November 18. There will be absolutely no walk-in registrations.  Dinner costs $54 for VSDC members/$57 for non-members/$36 for children over 3.  Children 3 and under are free. 

Saturday, November 28

2 p.m.- 5 p.m. Thanksgiving Open House
12325 Seaside Road, Machipongo, VA

Meet live turkeys at this potluck celebration. Please bring a vegan (no meat, dairy or eggs) dish to share. Click here for more information.
