Ah, the wicked romance of October. There's something exciting and naughty about going to a haunted house, dressing up for a costume party, or taking a late-night walk hand-in-hand through the enchanted moonlight.

This month, there are plenty of opportunities to indulge in the heady combination of fear and romance. Pick a weekend and a place, and get ready to be scared out of your pants and into bed with your lover!

The LoDo Cocktail Hour Ghost Hunt:

Take a tour of haunted Denver this month, complete with bloody tales and cocktails. The 3-hour tour begins at Corridor 44 (1433 Larimer). Once a brothel, the family who ran it became embroiled in star-crossed love, murder and suicide. And now the ghosts of the departed linger. Paranormal episodes reportedly occur at other locations on Larimer, as well as at the Sugar building, the vault in Union Station, the Oxford Hotel and Mattie’s House of Mirror, all of which are part of this hauntingly good time. Tours begin at 5 p.m., and are Saturdays, 10/10, 10/17, 10/24 and Friday, 10/30. Tickets are $20, $15 for students. Call 303-902-8620 or 720-878-6850.

The Brown Palace Eternal Guest
Spend Halloween weekend at the historic Brown Palace Hotel (321 17th Street). Oct 30th and 31st, the hotel will host a Haunted Happy Hour with drinks and hors d’oeuvres in the one of their most “haunted” rooms followed by a ghost tour. Visit www.brownpalace.com for details and reservations, or call 303-297-3111 or 800-321-2599.
