It is a very cooperative vegetarian who will accompany dining companions to an establishment that honors cows for their flavor, instead of their life. Once leaping that sizeable hurdle, the vegetarian still needs to find something to eat. The old tricks of ordering a burger without the meat patty or a salad with closely monitored toppings are usable options here. Cole slaw, garden salad, wedge salad and Caesar salads are available. They are not the only choices. Black Angus has an array of sides that can be combined to make a satisfying meal. Surprisingly well done, the broccoli is not cooked into submission. Steamed broccoli retains its bright green color and flavor, enhanced by the light sprinkling of shaved parmesan cheese. Potatoes, the most filling “Sidekicks”, are available as French fries, garlic mashed potatoes, classic baked and loaded baked. Specify what is “loaded” onto the potato. Sweet potato fries are available, with maple dipping sauce.
Some of the valley’s Black Angus restaurants are open for lunch, including the Metrocenter site. The dining room is less cavernous in daylight, with smaller crowds.
