In search of Delaware's biggest family
I am not a fan of Jon and Kate Gosselin for a variety of reasons. I am, however, a huge fan of Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, as well as their 18 children (this reason has nothing to do with the fact that I share a name with their oldest daughter). I watch their show every week, and even sometimes On Demand. While I understand that their show is complete contrived and most likely scripted, I cannot help but feel compelled to watch it. I don't know if it's their apparent resourcefulness, thriftiness, die-hard and unwaivering beliefs, or just the fact that they are so different from anything else on television lately (for example, have you seen their modesty suits? Those are a far cry from anything else you will see on any show, on any network). Whatever it is, I am fascinated by them.
But watching the Duggars has made me think--are there any families like that are in Delaware? I'm not saying that they need to have 18 kids, but are they larger than average (say 7 or more kids)? And if there is a family or two like that living in our state, I would love to meet them and spend a day with them, bearing witness to their daily schedule. I have all kinds of questions. What kind of income do they make? How do they manage their expenses? Where do they go to school? How does faith play a role in their every day lives? The list goes on and on. And once I get to talk to them, I would love to profile them right here, on
www.examiner.comSo my search for Delaware's biggest family begins. If you know anyone that is a member of this family, please feel free to drop me a note at
