Your kids will love the Children's Museum, and so will your budget! Entry is only $5.00 per person over the age of 2. This one fee gains you access to all the exhibits and games.

Here are our favorites:

1. TotSpot - This section is like the soft play areas in the malls, but much, much better. This area has slides, soft climbing blocks, a stage, mirrors, story time, and in the back, little cars with seats inside and removable tires so kids can play mechanic! Our 18 month old could have stayed all day, and our 3 year old loved it, too.

2. Farm to Market - This exhibit lets kiddos copy Mom and Dad at a mini-grocery store. Little shoppers get a healthy shopping list and basket to use in their visit to make sure they're shopping wisely, and they even get to check out at the end and "pay" for their items. My daughter wanted one of everything, of course! She was dismayed by the size of her basket and kept dropping her groceries, but she was very serious about the effort. Next door to the grocery store is the farm, where kids can learn about where the food comes from and play a little farm dress-up.

3. Think Tank - Perfect for little thinkers, everything in this section is visually interesting. There are puzzles, games, crazy hats (a favorite), and sensory exploration. Even the staircase is exciting!

4. And so much more - In addition to many other exciting exhibits, the John P. McGovern Kid's Hall features a puppet show (kids put on the show), face painting, a reading nook, Kid's Cafe, and Gift Shop for souvenirs and learning toys. The museum offers special events around the holidays, such as a Dia de los Muertos exhibit in October and a Gingerbread Bash in December. You can sign up for the monthly e-newsletter or follow museum updates on Facebook, Twitter, or Flickr. Annual family memberships are available for reasonable rates.
Local parent Laura Kowalewski said that her three girls "had a blast" and that purchasing a membership is "worth it if you're going to go more than once in a year."  Her family's favorites included the TotSpot, a live music performance, crafts, Farm to Market, and the special events like the Gingerbread Bash.
