Here are some ideas for celebrating Halloween at home, as sometimes with certain disabilities it can be difficult to bring your child trick or treating.  Making these treats with your children will be almost at fun as eating them!

 Spooky Eyeball Tacos

  •     1 lb. Ground beef
  •     1 packet taco seasoning mix
  •     12 taco shells
  •     salsa or taco sauce
  •     sour cream
  •     sliced pitted ripe olives or chopped red or green bell peppers

Mix ground beef and seasoning mix.  Shape into 36 1" balls; place on 15x10x1-inch
baking pan.  Bake at 350°F for 15 to 20 minutes or until cooked through.  Fill each taco
shell with 1 meatball, salsa and other desired ingredients.  Top with 2 meatballs dipped in
sour cream.  Garnish with olives or bell peppers to make "eyeballs"

Moldy Dinner Rolls

  •     1 package of Pillsbury refrigerated dinner rolls

Add green food coloring to dough to achieve a moldy green color, then cook according to direction on package.

Vampire's Blood Shake

  •     2 cups plain yogurt
  •     1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
  •     1 package frozen strawberries or raspberries, thawed
  •     ice cubes
  •     1 pint strawberry ice cream

Mix yogurt, vanilla, and berries in the blender.  Pour into tall glasses over ice cubes, or
chill.  Top with a big spoonful of strawberry ice cream.

Chocolate Armpit Hairs

  •     3 large shredded wheat bundles
  •     3 Tablespoons honey
  •     1 Tablespoon light brown sugar
  •     1 6-ounce bag milk chocolate chips
  •     2 Tablespoons butter

Break up the shredded wheat bundles into single long  strands, so they have the appearance of armpit hairs. Set  aside.  Place the honey, brown sugar, chocolate chips, and  butter in a saucepan and heat over a low flame to melt. Stir  constantly. Mixture should be smooth and glossy.  Remove from heat and gently stir in the shredded wheat.  When the shredded wheat is completely coated, scoop it onto waxed paper in small equal  portions. Use a fork to gently rake hairs into one direction.  Place in refrigerator for about thirty minutes.   Sprinkle with powdered sugar and serve.

Eyeball Cookies

  •     1/2 cup butter, softened
  •     1-1/2 cups peanut butter
  •     1 Lb powdered sugar
  •     1 Tbs vanilla extract
  •     12 oz white chocolate

Cream the butter and peanut butter together. Add the sugar and vanilla and thoroughly
blend. Shape into small 1-inch balls and refrigerate on waxed paper for 30 minutes. Melt
the white chocolate in the microwave. With a toothpick, dip the "eyeballs" into the white
chocolate, covering all but a small circle on the top. Let cool on waxed paper. Makes 40
eyeballs.
