There is a nice place in the Chicago suburbs to go if you like cars. Old, new, and celebrity cars can be viewed at the Volo Auto Museum in Volo, Illinois. Chevys, Fords, Buicks, and other cars are on display for the automobile enthusiast to see and if the pockets are deep enough, to purchase.
Muscle cars and other big gas consuming vehicles are parked within four good size barns, all polished up for your drooling pleasure. Over three hundred beautiful cars are on display to take pictures of, dream about, and to trigger old memories of a long forgotten time.
From the factories in Detroit, these relics in the past decades were pumped out with one main thing on the brain, speed. These big steel monsters of the road would fly down the asphalt excelerating faster and faster as time went by. Each manufacturer kept trying to outspeed the other. Long before seat belts or emissions came into the assembly line, the gas peddle kept moving you at higher rates of speed and was the main option.
Not just the big muscle cars are on display anymore. Celebrity vehicles from movies and television shows are on site to put a smile on your face. The Batmobile, the General Lee, and Herbie the Love Bug are parked in well dressed displays. Recently vehicles driven during the shooting of the lastest Batman movie are parked in the museum.
Cars from The Fast and the Furious, RoboCop, and Gone in 60 Seconds are some of the gems to see. Also, there is a new military vehicle section as well to walk through. Keep in mind you will not get to sit in these vehicles and the museum itself would prefer that you don't even touch them. So please don't leave any finger prints during your visit.
