It appears as if Space Mountain is nearing the end of its long refurbishment and seems to be preparing for guests. Work lights are now turned off inside, trains are being tested on the tracks and other items give a hint that the ride will soon be ready to open. The inside is looking more and more ready with a few changes. Could a soft opening be near?
Hint: to see the interior changes take a ride on the TTA, but keep in mind it feels so much darker than before.
Final touches are being placed on the exterior of the building, including new signage. New planters and landscaping is all complete and looking spectacular. Constructions walls have come down and it looks like the end of the refurbishment is coming nearer.
Personally, I cannot wait to see the changes Disney has made to the interior of the ride, especially in the queue area.
Mark your calendars and be prepared to be launched into space aboard Space Mountain, which is scheduled to officially open on Nov. 22, 2009. However, if all things go well Disney could be offering previews to select guests during a soft opening expected as early as this week.
