At Philadelphia Park Racetrack, the gates open at 11:00 AM and the live racing begins at 12:25 PM on most days.

Everyone wants to know the secret of how to win a horse race.  The first mistake is to bet by the color of the horse.  Another mistake is to always go with the long shot.  The most ideal bet is on the confident looking horse.   Philadelphia Park has a paddock where, before the race begins, the horses are walked around a circle for display.  It is good to show up at the paddock fifteen minutes before the race.  The calm, cool horse is the one who thinks he can outrun the others.  He is quiet and proud.  He does not always come in but usually always gives it his best.  The best stance to take is a two dollar bet on that horse to place.  Therefore if he/she is first, second or third, you will win.

Horse racing is a sport that you can lose a lot of money at.  It is wise to set a limit for a spending allowance before you go and keep your other funds at home.

The racetrack is located at 3001 Street Road in Bensalem, PA.  No alcohol is permitted on the premises.

Enjoy the slideshow, each picture is labeled with the correct name for the color of the horse.  Knowing the colors will come in handy at the track.

A day at the races
Some of the colors thoroughbred race horses can be found in. Thoroughbreds are bred for speed alone. They are quick, agile and sensitive.
