Santa time is quickly approaching, and with of his arrival of course comes the cold and snow of Cleveland winter. As you finish your last minute holiday preparations, remember to keep in mind the animals who struggle outside in the cold. If you have an outdoor pet, always bring him inside when it gets really bad; the garage or basement work fine. Also, straw is very inexpensive and make a great insulator for your outdoor pets home. And most importantly, don't forget to provide fresh water when the temperature drops below freezing.
In addition to Fido, its also important to remember our feathered and fuzzy wild creatures. Lots of people have bird feeders in their backyards, but an even easier way to provide for wildlife is to simply take your leftover or stale bread and cereals and toss them in the yard. Not only will you be saving money on bird food, you will be cutting down on your waste as well.
Finally, as a last minute gift why not donate in a loved one's name to an animal shelter? Homeless pets suffer the most during the cold winter months, as animals shelters provide excellent care and love to abused and neglected dogs and cats. If you prefer a tangible gift, shelters are always in need of food and other supplies.
So as you finish your shopping and gather your family close, always remember the less fortunate members of the world. Animals provide us with so much love and enjoyment, it's only right that we should give a little back to them in return.
