Bellarmine's Usua Amanam scored three touchdowns
in the CCS Open division semi-final win over Serra

It's always tough to catch lightning in a bottle one, let alone twice.

Serra had bottled up Stanford-bound Usua Amanam once this year but could not do it again. The lightning-quick back erupted for  270 yards and three touchdowns as the Bells eliminated Serra 25-7 in front of 8,000 at San Jose City College.

Bellarmine advances to face Valley Christian in the CCS Open division final, with a berth in the state bowl game a near certainty for the winner.

One team quietly hoping for a Valley Chrisitian loss next week is Novato, an easy 52-7 winner over Fortuna and a longshot to represent NorCal in the D-II state title game.

The other huge game of the night was Pittsburg handling California 17-9.  The Pirates are the last North Coast Section team to beat De La Salle, and they could get the chance to be the next to do it with a win over San Ramon Valley next weekend.

In a couple new editions of the East Bay versus North Bay showdowns, Las Lomas notched one for the 925 area code by nipping Rancho Cotate, 21-17. Marin Catholic came back strong though, representing the 415 area code with a 42-27 thumping of Bishop O'Dowd.

The Wildcats will have their hands full next weekend against uber-speedy Encinal, which boasts an unbeaten record and still harbors hopes of the state bowl game. Find your postseason updates here.
