There's nothing quite like Friday night high school football. It has become a beautiful piece of Americana, bringing communities together to celebrate their local teams as they battle on the gridiron.
Thanks to the power of the internet as well as traditional media outlets, we fans are able to drink in many different scenes from campuses around Northern California.
Tonight, I'm trying to keep tabs on the Bruce-Mahoney game in San Francisco between St. Ignatius and Sacred Heart Cathedral. Our friend from the Chronicle Will McCulloch is there blogging live at http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/blogs/sfgate/detail?blogid=27&entry_id=32673#comments
They will post other scores and updates as they become available.
I'm also going to switch on the radio and catch another colleague Dave Lewis do play-by-play for the De La Salle-California game. It's about to kick on KYCY 1550-AM, available in some areas and online at www.stretchinternet.com
Aside from that, I'll be checking www.calpreps.com to catch any other score from around the region that happens to trickle in tonight before I fall asleep.
With the Secion seeding meetings this weekend, this is a very exciting night for HS football-philes like me.
