As reported by Gizmodo, Samsung announces the thinnest (and so far only) watch cell phone.
As Samsung only has one watch phone competitor and they have not even launched their watch phone, it is obviously a little early to declare Samsung the winner in this market niche.
That being said, the Samsung S9110 is an interesting offering, boasting a 1.76-inch touch screen including Bluetooth, email support, and MP3 playback.
The watch phone also offers voice recognition and a speakerphone, included in a package that is about 12mm thick -- it's little bigger than many watches but within acceptable wrist wear territory (at least in the geek / early adopter market). It is reported that the initial releases will be distributed throughout Europe, starting in France, where the S9110 will evidently retail for around $650.
If you are willing to accept the inherent awareness of using a watch for your cell phone in exchange for early adopter "coolness" this may well be for you. You may even be able to use it for your every-day cell phone.
So far there is no word on a U.S. release yet, but as SamsungHub via Mobilecrunch puts it; "Import costs aren't likely to stop the kinds of dapper jet setting gentlemen and/or independently wealthy James Bond super fans who'll be buying this thing anyway."
Not being a super earlier adopter or "dapper jet setting gentleman" myself, I think I will wait on this device, but for those of you who must have the latest gadget ASAP, it may be right up your alley!
It will certainly confuse those around you and will be a conversation piece without a doubt.
