Injured Elbow
Digital copy of X-Ray of cracked elbow and ruptured Bursa
through the wonders of Medical Technology.

Okay, so she didn't really push me down the stairs; falling down the stairs in the socks she gave me for Christmas was entirely my fault.

In the process I managed to rupture the Bursa surrounding the elbow (which looked like a horror movie) and cracked one of those bones in my elbow.  I cannot remember which one but it is a little beside the point.  I also broke a rib and knocked my head pretty hard.

The good news on all of this is that I could have been hurt a lot worse and it was on New Year's Day at a friend's house so I had my wife and great friend there to help me to the hospital.

The other great news is that I was exposed to some really cool technology at the hospital.  It turns out they are now using digital radiography instead of the 100% film based radiography.  This means they can adjust poor exposures rather than having to reshoot the X-Ray (unless the exposure is really off).

More importantly, the experts can enlarge the image many times to study minute detail.  And best for a techno-geek like me; they can give me a copy of the X-Ray on a CD to take home.  Of course they can also transfer copies of the X-Ray instantly to a specialist without worrying about getting their film back.

I thought I would spare you the really horror movie images of the huge bulge on my elbow, but in the spirit of creating Lemon-aid from Lemons, I thought I would share my medical technology experience (and explain why I have not published much in the last couple of days).

Happy New Year!
