As I noted in the quarterback segment of this week’s starts and sits, it looks to be a good week for the passing game. We already went over what signal callers can lead you to a big week, but who will be on the receiving end of the aerial assault?

Top pick of the week:

Randy Moss, NE, vs. TB:
The Brady-to-Moss connection finally started looking like the legendary combo of two years ago in last week’s demolition of the Titans.

This week the Patriots face a Tampa Bay team that is almost as bad defensively. The Buccaneers have given up 13 touchdown passes so far this year, only the Lions and Titans have given up more.

Look for Brady and Moss to continue what they started last week. Expect another two touchdowns for Moss.

Others to start:

Hines Ward, PIT, vs. MIN:
Ben Roethlisberger is having the best statistical season of his career, Ward is averaging nearly 100 yards-per-game, and the Vikings pass defense is ranked in the bottom third of the league.

Add all of those together and you get a big day from Hines Ward, especially since the Vikings will most likely be without their best cornerback, Antoine Winfield.

Ward is quickly becoming one of the steals of this year’s fantasy drafts as he is playing like he did in his prime at only half the price. Sit back and enjoy the benefits yet again.

Dwayne Bowe, KC, vs. SD: Over the last two weeks Bowe has picked up 183 yards and one touchdown. Look for his hot streak to continue against a San Diego defense that has given up eight passing touchdowns in five games so far this year.

Bowe is without a doubt the Chiefs’ top threat, and arguably their only threat. It is no secret that I don’t like their quarterback at all, but Bowe is a true number one receiver.

In a favorable matchup like the one he faces this week, Bowe is a must start.

Austin Collie, IND, @STL: The rookie from BYU is quickly developing into one of Peyton Manning’s favorite targets.

Over the last two games, Collie has three touchdowns to go along with 162 yards. Look for another performance like those two this week when he faces the Rams.

Manning is going to put up huge numbers against this team and Collie will be on the other end of a good amount of them. Look for Collie to have his first career 100 yard game and hit pay dirt for the third straight game.

Who to sit:

Terrell Owens, BUF, @ CAR: I shouldn’t have to tell you to bench a receiver who is averaging 35.8 yards-per-game, but for some reason he is still starting in 55 percent of the leagues on Yahoo!.

This week he may not even reach his 35 yard average as he faces an underrated Carolina secondary. The Panthers actually have the second best pass defense in the NFL, and if Owens is matched up against Chris Gamble he could be looking at another shutout; especially with Ryan Fitzpatrick at quarterback.

He has a bad quarterback, a bad match-up, and bad hands. Three strikes for Owens. He belongs on the waiver-wire, not in your starting lineup.

Steve Smith, CAR, vs. BUF:
No wide receiver has been more disappointing than Steve Smith.

Fresh off a one catch, four yard performance, Smith faces another tough match-up with the Bills.

The Bills have the worst run defense in the NFL, which means DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart will get their chance to run all over them.

Making terrible news even worse for Smith owners, the Bills have the fourth best pass defense in the league. Plus, Jake Delhomme is still the quarterback.

You have better options than Smith. It is hard to drop him, but if you can get good value in a trade move him. Until them, sit him.

Braylon Edwards, NYJ, @OAK: Edwards has looked better since coming over to the Jets, but he is still far from the Pro Bowl receiver he was two years ago in Cleveland.

Edwards’ inconsistency alone makes him hard to recommend, but making it even worse is the match-up and the lack of a supporting cast.

Jerricho Cotchery and Brad Smith will both be out again this week, meaning Edwards will be lined up against All-Pro cornerback Nnandi Asomugha. It is hard to start anyone who is covered by a corner who quarterbacks never even try to throw at, especially if it is Braylon Edwards.
