Driving through a local Connecticut town you may notice small dots appearing in the skies and suddenly splaying out as colorful streaks with people attached to them. Crazy? Not really. Welcome to the world of skydiving. This exhilarating experience is nestled right here in central Connecticut in a town known as Ellington. (continued below)
The holidays are upon us and in only a few days we’ll be destined for the aisles of department stores stacking unnecessary junk into our carts along with paper to wrap it all up in. A month later, semi-enthused family members and friends will reopen the gifts only to secretly wonder what the allure to gifts is anymore.

CPI (Connecticut Parachutists, Inc) has been around for over 46 years and is one of New England’s leading skydiving drop zones.
If your gift recipient is curious about skydiving or already licensed as one, a life time experience is awaiting them in the rural cornfields of Ellington Airport.

Seeing Connecticut from 14,000 feet and feeling the cool air rush past your skin is a memory that will never be far from your mind. If you choose to purchase a tandem, (that is jumping with your instructor strapped to your back), expect a thorough explanation of what you will be experiencing along with a couple dry runs on the ground. Once you reach altitude and the door is opened, be prepared to feel your heartbeat through your chest. This is living! As you are plunged into the sky you will laugh and scream with excitement! (for the timid, I assure you it does not feel at all like the sensation of being on a roller coaster, as you are completely supported by the rush of air you are falling through)
As your journey back to earth begins, you will be suspended in silence under canopy being able to look around and enjoy the weightless feeling of flight. Its all smiles, hugs, and photos as you touchdown on the soft field of the drop zone.
You’ve just completed your first skydive!
For the experienced, they offer night jumps, advanced licenses, wing suit clinics, freefly clinics and training to become a jump master or tandem instructor. There isn’t a dull moment at this drop zone.
