Key to successful dieting is food prep

One of the best habits to get into when trying to stick to a healthy eating plan is food prep.

Healthy eating involves lots of fruits and vegetables. For me, I never know what my week nights will bring so I spend a couple hours on the weekend washing and chopping vegetables to have ready for the week.

I actually make all my lunches Sunday night then I just grab my container of chopped veggies and lean protein and head out the door each morning. I have little interest in making my lunch each night, so this habit saves me.

If you have a busy weekend or are away, many vegetables can now be purchased pre washed and pre cut/chopped.

This habit is good for many reasons:

  • One less thing to worry about during a busy week
  • If I am out late the night before and don't have time to make lunch, I won't be forced to eat out which can often lead to high fat, high calorie and high sodium choices.
  • It's cheaper than eating out each day.
  • You know your food has been washed and prepared in a clean environment. (Call me paranoid, but it's a label I'm willing to take.)

I hope this helps.
