Carol and daughter Olivia before her weight loss

My friend Carol is truly one of The Biggest Losers. Although she never appeared on the TV show, she lost 115 pounds within a year and a half….by utilizing a common sense approach to diet and exercise.

The turning point for Carol was seeing herself in a vacation photo. In April 2007 she and her family went to Nice, France. Carol’s daughter Olivia put together a slide show upon returning home. Although the photos of the area were spectacular, Carol took a look, a hard look at a photo of herself (photo 1) and BAM that was it! Something had to be done.

Carol and Olivia - after Carol's 115 pound weight loss

One of the first steps towards the journey of losing weight was to begin to eat differently …no more pasta or bad carbs rather her meals consisted of fish or chicken and tons of vegetables.

Portion control was also key. However two times a week both Carol and her husband Dan (who has successfully joined her on this endeavor) did indulge and eat what they wanted (in moderation). They found it easier to adhere to a diet and fitness schedule IF they could occasionally indulge in some of their favorite foods and drinks.
