While many of us were continuing with life as usual this weekend, a collection of rag tag serial entrepreneurs were participating in Atlanta Startup Weekend 2. This is the second incarnation of the wildly popular technology workaholic's ultimate sleepover with a purpose.

The idea behind Atlanta Startup Weekend 2, which wrapped up its second year here in Atlanta this weekend, is to emerse participants to the full breadth of technology entrepreneurship in a collaborative environment. The event is held in major cities throughout the United States.

Participants pre-registered for the event which ran continuosly from Friday, November 7  to Sunday, November 9. After getting settled in on Friday, project ideas were pitched in successive rounds until the final winning ideas were selected. Participants were then given the opportunity to select a company to "work for."

The groups then set about the process of turning the project ideas into reality. Some begin with the determination to complete the project by Sunday, while others were satisfied to outline the company's products and structure and still others just enjoyed the environment. More than 102 individuals participated in this years event and over 50 showed up for the final event on Sunday.

Some of the novel ideas coming out of this years Atlanta Startup Weekend 2:

  • twit pay - A twitter based payment service
  • giving time- A service allowing entrepreneurs to barter time
  • closebuy.me - A location-based inventory search engine
