Since 2005, when the first SNL Digital Short, “Lettuce” appeared on the screen, I haven’t been able to get enough of these gems. With each new episode of the show, I anxiously anticipate the amazing digital short and prepare to be both shocked and entertained at the same time.
Although almost all are awesome, below are ten of my favorite SNL Digital Shorts. You can watch them yourself by clicking on the link for each. Enjoy!
10. I’m on a Boat – Air date was February 7, 2009. The song is from The Lonely Island album, Incredibad. The Lonely Island is a comedy group including Andy Samberg, Akiva Schaffer, and Jorma Taccone.
9. Young Chuck Norris – Originally aired January 21, 2006, SNL cast member Jason Sudeikis sings a rock ballad for his idol, young Chuck Norris, played by Samberg.
8. Ariel and Efrim – Set in the early 1990s, the short is a parody of Euro bands of that time, as Tom Hanks and Samberg sing a song about protecting their family jewels. The short aired May 6, 2006.
7. Roy Rules! - Samberg raps about his awesome brother-in-law, Roy, played by SNL writer, Brian Tucker. Originally aired April 21, 2007.
6. Natalie Raps – Natalie Portman lays down a wicked rap in this short that aired March 4, 2006. Samberg also appears in the video as a Flavor Flav wannabe.
5. Everyone’s a Critic – In this provocative short, Paul Rudd is romantically painted in the nude by Samberg. The painting goes to auction, as vomiting and spontaneous bleeding result. The short aired November 15, 2008.
4. Dick in a Box – Originally aired on December 16, 2006, Justin Timberlake and Samberg are two guys who give their women the ultimate gift—their genital region in a box!
3. Motherlover – This awesome short is supposed to take place five months after the events in the short “Dick in a Box.” It aired the day before Mother’s Day, May 9, 2009, and featured Samberg and Timberlake who decide the best Mother’s Day gift would be for each to have sex with the other’s mom.
2. Jizz in My Pants – The name of this short says it all! Justin Timberlake, Molly Sims, and Jamie-Lynn Siegler make cameo appearances. The short aired December 6, 2008 and is the first single for the debut album of The Lonely Island.
1. Chronicles of Narnia (Lazy Sunday) – Also known as the Chronic(what?)cles of Narnia, the original air date for this short was December 17, 2005. The short features Samberg and Chris Parnell rapping and rhyming about the movie The Chronicles of Narnia, Mr. Pibb, and Red Vines.
