Shopping Mommy: shop UNICEF
Tomorrow is the 62nd anniversary of UNICEF and what better way to give back this holiday season than to support the United Nation's Children's Fund in its efforts to provide things like food, education, and immunizations to the world's children?
This year, consider doing some online shopping at unicef.org, where you can purchase greeting cards, toys, stationary, and other gifts.
Finished with your holiday shopping? You can buy a vaccine, milk, or other item to send directly to children in need.
And if you choose not to shop directly through the UNICEF website, know that there are a number of corporations that partner with UNICEF to support its mission.
- IKEA - This holiday season IKEA will donate a portion of the proceeds from purchases of its soft toys to UNICEF.
- Delta and Northwest Airlines - Donate any of your unused frequent flyer miles to UNICEF. For details visit www.delta.com/skywish or www.nwa.com/corpinfo/aircares/donate
- Pampers - For every specially marked Pampers pack purchased in Walmart stores, the Pampers brand will donate 5 cents to the U.S. Fund for UNICEF to provide one tetanus shot to a woman in a developing country.
- Gucci - This year Gucci has designed a new collection of Tattoo Heart gifts and accessories to benefit UNICEF. Gucci will donate 25% of retail sales until January 31, 2009 to the UNICEF program for orphans and children who have been affected by HIV/AIDS
For other companies who are partnering with UNICEF this holiday season visit UNICEF's corporate partners list.
