Many families are experiencing added financial stress this holiday season, but who wants to miss out on holiday fun?  Check out these events in the Philadelphia area.  No penny pinching necessary; they're free!

Holiday Light Show at Macy's Center City

Macy's Holiday Light Show has been a favorite of Philadelphia locals and visitors for decades.  Watch the spectacular light display on the four story high curtain while you listen to narrated holiday stories and the beautiful music from the grand organ.  Shows begin every hour, on the hour in the Grand Court atrium.  While you're there, check out Dickens Village on the third floor featuring animated figures from the classic A Christmas Carol.

Reading Terminal Holiday Railroad

Children will be captivated by this 500 square foot display of ten working trains, weaving through picturesque holiday scenes and snow covered villages.  The model train exhibit is open daily from 10 am to 6 pm.  Enter from the 1100 block of Market Street or Filbert Street.  Santa will be visiting the Green Court every Saturday until December 20 from 12 pm to 2 pm.  Don't forget your camera!

Horse-Drawn Carriage Rides in Kennett Square

Experience an old-fashioned Christmas tradition with your family.  Free carriage rides are available every Sunday in December from 12 pm to 3pm in historic Kennett Square.  There may be a wait for the rides, but you are able to place your name on a list  while you check out the nearby shops and galleries.
