Pope Benedict XVI has released a plan to welcome in Anglicans into the Roman Catholic ecclesiastical structure. This comes as huge news to the world, as this is the first official attempt by Rome to welcome back a Reformational church. There are two sides to this story of course. The Roman church has taken seriously some of those issues brought up by the Reformers within the last half century. Also many recognize the recent trouble in the Anglican Communion, as divisions over ordination of women and homosexuals to the position of bishop has caused rifts between large portions of the church. In the middle of the discussion are the leaders of both churches who recognize enough similarities so that reconciliation might one day be possible. This serves as an important first step for that.
