Beginning on the First Friday of November (November 6), Roosevelt Row Block Party is moving north to E. Roosevelt St. between Central Ave. and 7th St. This new location reduces the number of intersections pedestrians will need to cross, increase on-street parking and move the Block Party closer to the “Arts District” stop on the METRO light rail.
Roosevelt Row's Block Party is a popular part of the First Friday events in downtown Phoenix. It features dozens of different artists, entertainers, vendors and food carts each month.
The Block Party really began to hum earlier this year when Phoenix officials began cracking down on vendors and artists who were displaying or selling their works on sidewalks, street corners or any other empty spaces they can find during First Fridays. Roosevelt Row, a non-profit organization representing art-friendly businesses and individuals in the downtown Phoenix area, stepped up and created the Block Party to allow these independents to generate income. Providing they have the appropriate city and county tax licenses, of course. Vendors and exhibitors also pay a small fee to Roosevelt Row.
First Fridays and especially the vendors at the Roosevelt Row Block Party, are a great source for truly unique gifts and unexpected treasures not found elsewhere in the Valley of the Sun. Why not start your holiday shopping early this year?
